Passenger Liability Insurance is a mandatory policy for transport operators who carry out paid passenger transport on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. It provides financial protection in the event of bodily injury, death, or loss/damage of passengers' luggage occurring during transport. Legal basis: Legea Nr. 1553 din 25-02-1998 cu privire la asigurarea obligatorie de răspundere civilă a transportatorilor faţă de călători

What risks are covered:

  • Bodily injury or death of passengers as a result of an accident occurring during transport
  • Loss or damage of luggage
  • Medical and repatriation expenses, if applicable
  • Moral and material compensation to injured persons or their successors

Applies to:

  • Interurban, suburban, and international road passenger transport
  • Passenger rail transport
  • Passenger water transport
  • (Optional, as an extension) tourist or occasional transport
Insured amount: Established according to the legislation in force, depending on the type of transport and the capacity of the means of transport. Rates and liability limits are regulated by the National Bank of Moldova (NBM).
