The insurance company, also called the insurer (reinsurer), is a legal entity registered in the Republic of Moldova which, under the law, holds a license to carry out insurance (reinsurance) activity.

It is the insurance company which, in exchange for the insurance premium paid by the insured, assumes responsibility to:

  • cover damage to the insured property caused by certain natural disasters or accidents;
  • pay the insured amount when a certain event occurs in the life of the respective person;
  • pay compensation for the damage for which the insured is liable

The insurance company must meet the minimum share capital requirements and prudential rules imposed by Legea nr. 92/2022 (07.04.2022), as well as other regulatory acts of the regulatory authority (NBM).
