What is Periodic Technical Inspection?
To be allowed to take part in road traffic, every vehicle must undergo a technical inspection to verify compliance with national road safety and environmental protection standards, the vehicle owner's compliance with tax legislation, and the existence of a valid compulsory MTPL insurance policy.
What do you need to undergo the technical inspection?
Before undergoing the technical inspection, make sure you have a valid compulsory MTPL insurance policy and the receipt (confirmation) proving payment of the road usage tax. Having these documents is mandatory.
Moreover, the receipt (confirmation) must indicate the vehicle's registration number and its make. Otherwise, you will not be able to pass the technical inspection.
To undergo the technical inspection, present the expert with:
- A valid MTPL policy
- Confirmation of payment of the road usage tax (receipt)
- Identity card
- Driving license
- Vehicle registration certificate
Your car must be equipped with:
- First aid kit

- validol – 10 tablets
- iodine skin solution – 1 bottle
- elastic fixation bandage – 2 pieces
- bactericidal plaster – 3 pieces
- plain plaster – 1 roll
- gauze bandage, 7 x 14 cm – 3 pieces
- sterile gauze bandage, 7 x 14 cm – 2 pieces
- scissors – 1 piece
- absorbent cotton wool – 100 g.
- rubber tourniquet for hemostasis – 1 pc.
- notepaper – 3 sheets
- flashlight – 1 piece
- pen or pencil – 1 piece.

- Fire extinguisher
If your car meets all the technical requirements specified in the legislation, you will receive a technical inspection report. This allows you to drive on public roads for one year.
If any technical issues are found, you will receive a temporary technical report valid for 30 days, giving you the opportunity to fix the detected technical deficiencies. After fixing all the deficiencies, you can undergo the technical inspection again and obtain a report valid for one year.

You can calculate and issue your compulsory MTPL insurance policy on the rapidasig.md website, online or on paper with free delivery in Chișinău. The insurance policy can be issued in advance, with the desired start date.
When issuing the insurance policy, pay attention to the accuracy of the data entered in the contract.

What is the road usage tax?
The road usage tax (Road Tax) is paid by individuals and legal entities that own vehicles registered in the Republic of Moldova.
The tax is paid in full for a calendar year (January 1 - December 31), except for vehicles subject to mandatory technical inspection twice a year, in which case the tax is paid in two equal installments upon each technical inspection.
Attention! To be admitted to the periodic technical inspection (Technical Review), you are required to present proof of payment of the road usage tax.
